This is my first purchase of the Sofft brand loafer. I wasn't sure what to expect. I was worried that they might made with soft, thin leather like some of the shoe designers are using now. Upon receiving the Meryl loafers, I was completely blown away. I literally gasped when I opened the box. The leather is top quality. The color of luggage is an absolutely classic and gorgeous shade of cognac. The stitching on the shoe is perfect and it's a beautiful ecru color that blends very well with the leather. Very classy style! I would compare these shoes to designs by Cole Haan or Ralph Lauren, and I would choose Sofft over them.
I wear an 8 medium and that's what I ordered.
I was so relieved that my heel didn't slip out of the back. They were little tight in the toe box, but I knew the leather would mold around my foot and it did. I used a hair dryer on warm to warm up the leather inside, then I wore the shoes in the house with a sock. They fit perfectly within two days.
Such an extra bonus that they are waterproof.
A special touch: The sole has a lovely flower pattern.
