BUCKLE ADJUSTABILITY
Before trying the Brynlee I tried the Mae. I'll offer a comparison for the benefit of those who may be considering the same. For me the Brynlee is significantly more comfortable. For reference I wear a size 8 and have a narrower (but still medium) width foot. I have metatarsalgia, plantar faciitis, and heel spurs which are all managed by wearing really good shoes from: Alegria, Vionic, Dansko, Earth, etc. I wear a size 8 in regular shoes and size up to a 9 in athletic shoes. In Dansko clogs I am a 39. In both the Mae & the Brynlee the 38 fit best.
I am giving the Brynlee a 4 overall because it's a funnier looking shoe on my foot than the Mae was. I feel like Olive Oil from the Popeye cartoons! But they feel awesome on my foot. Although the velcro clasp on the Mae was more convenient, the traditional buckle on the Brynlee is more secure for me. The velcro on the Mae also scratched my foot at the ankle.
I wish the insole was smooth leather, as I previously found the the suede insole of the Sam was not antimicrobial. I hope this one is better.
In short, the Mae is cuter, but I find the Brynlee more comfortable. Let's see if she holds up to summer travel!
